Promises from the Olive Tree is a passionate plea for modern Christian parents to learn the simple, trustworthy, agricultural lessons of God’s chosen people in the ancient Promised Land of Israel, and to apply them to raising God-fearing children in our now complex and confused world. Noreen Jacks has shown, in a wonderfully insightful and inspiring way, how we must diligently and lovingly cultivate these 'young olive plants' whom God has blessed us with in order to raise up wise, mature trees which will have a godly and lasting influence on our nation and culture. -- Professor Paul Dilgard, American River College

Olive trees have been a friend to man ever since the days of Adam. We know from the Bible that God placed the first man in the garden of Eden to cultivate and keep it (Gen. 2:15). Do you suppose Adam knew crushed olives would make great olive oil?
From the Master Gardener, Adam learned to appreciate the olive tree for the wonderful fruit and oil it offered freely. It was, indeed, a tree of great bounty and beauty, a precious gift from the Almighty. God even compared our children to olive plants in Psalm 128:3.
Your children will be as olive plants around your table!
Olive plants around my table? What was God contemplating when He made such a comparison? What do the children of the righteous have in common with olive plants?
The Bible frequently employs analogies and parables to make spiritual truth understandable for the common man. Jesus was the master of parabolic teaching, always presenting profound truth in the most simplistic manner possible. The agrarian culture in which He lived provided the backdrop for much of His teaching–first the natural and then the spiritual (1 Cor. 15:46).
Both Scripture and Jewish tradition use trees as a means of describing a righteous person. God referred to His chosen people as trees of righteousness: That they might be called trees of righteousness, the plantings of the Lord, that he might be glorified (Is. 61:3B).
